Carla Haslbauer was born 1994 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany and graduated from Lucern University of Arts in Illustration Fiction. She currently lives and works in Basel, Switzerland. She illustrates and writes for childrens books and comics.
Her first picture book ” My Mother’s Delightful Death’s”, published in 2021 by North South books, received great media attention. She gains her inspiration in nature, especially in the underwater world, the everyday happenings around her and her childhood. Furthermore, Carla Haslbauer is co-curator of the Bolo Klub, a collective that supports a new generation of picture book makers in Switzerland.
