Ugen Choden served as the first Program Director of the Bhutan Foundation and was responsible for its establishment in Bhutan. Ms. Choden was actively involved in fund-raising and managing programs related to conservation of endangered species and the environment, special education, emergency medical services and restoration of heritage sites. She has served on the boards of Loden Foundation, READ Bhutan, Bhutan Nuns Foundation, among others.
Previously, she was a consultant for the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, SNV and UN, as well as the Royal Government of Bhutan, specializing in social issues such as primary education, HIV/AIDS, and gender studies. She attended the University of Delhi in India, Sherubtse College in Bhutan, the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi and briefly the University of Arkansas in the United States.
