Born and raised in Bhutan, Zimbiri’s artistic journey is deeply influenced by the cultural and spiritual traditions of her homeland. Her art addresses themes of identity, heritage, and the evolving nature of cultural symbols.
Zimbiri graduated from Wheaton College with a double major in Economics and Fine Arts. Zimbiri made history as the first female artist to have a solo exhibition in Bhutan, marking a significant milestone in the Bhutanese art scene. Her works have been exhibited both in Bhutan and internationally. She has had exhibitions in India, Hong Kong, UK and Taiwan with distinguished galleries, showcasing her ability to blend traditional Bhutanese materials and techniques with contemporary themes
Zimbiri uses traditional Bhutanese canvas and earth pigments to create her pieces, maintaining authenticity while embracing new forms of expression. Her work serves as a bridge between the past and the present, preserving Bhutanese cultural heritage while integrating contemporary ideas.
